⚖️ Important Notes:

  • No Legal Advice: Notaries cannot draft documents, interpret legal meaning, or advise clients unless they are attorneys.

  • Document Must Be Complete: A notary cannot notarize an incomplete or blank legal form.

Apostille & Courier Services

Need documents authenticated for international use? Unicorn Express Notary can facilitate the apostille process with efficiency and attention to detail. We also offer reliable apostille courier services to hand-deliver your notarized documents to the Illinois Secretary of State.

What is an Apostille?

An apostille is issued by a designated government authority (usually the Secretary of State) and confirms:

  • The authenticity of the signature on a document

  • The capacity in which the person signing the document acted

  • The identity of any stamp or seal affixed to the document

It does not validate the content of the document—just the authenticity of the notarization or issuing authority.

When is an Apostille Needed?

You typically need an apostille when you're sending documents to a foreign country that is part of the Hague Apostille Convention (a treaty among over 100 countries).

Common documents requiring apostilles.

  • Birth, death, or marriage certificates

  • Diplomas and transcripts
